Project List

#1 Mission Central – 25 Participants

Leader:  A. J. Antolick

Description:  Meet at the church at 8:30 am and carpool to Mission Central in Mechanicsburg,  Once there, assemble kits to be sent around the world to people in need.   This work is not physically demanding and can be done while seated.

Some parts of the team may do some light warehouse work such as washing windows, stripping floors, moving items, etc.  You will not be asked to do any warehouse work, unless you indicate you are willing to do so.

Location:  Mission Central in Mechanicsburg

Time Frame:  8:30 am – 11:30 am

Ages:   10 & up (under 14 must be accompanied by a parent)

#2a Peanut Butter Egg Project SATURDAY – up to 17 participant

Leader:  Sheryl Strite

Description:  We’ll be making a special run of Chambers Hill Peanut Butter eggs.   Saturday’s team will set up, mix and form the eggs.

Location:  Social Hall at Chambers Hill UMC

Time Frame:  8:00 am – 11:00 am

Ages:  Teen and up

#2b Peanut Butter Egg Project SUNDAY – up to 17 participants

Leader:  Sheryl Strite

Description:  We’ll be making a special run of Chambers Hill Peanut Butter eggs.   Sunday’s team will coat, wrap, and label the eggs.

Location:  Social Hall at Chambers Hill UMC

Time Frame:  8:00 am – 11:00 am

Ages:  Teen and up

#3 Gleaning at Strite’s Orchard KIDS/FAMILY PROJECT

Leader:  Paul Wurst

Description:  This outdoor project is specifically designed for kids and families of all ages.   Everyone will meet at the church and travel to Strite’s Orchard.  All items gleaned will be donated to the Central PA Food Bank.   All children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.

Location:  Strite’s Orchard

Time Frame:  9:00 am – 11:00 am

Ages:  All Ages

#4 Adopt A Highway – up to 12 participants

Leader:  Jeff Seltzer

Description:  Meet at the church at 9:00 am.   This group will control the litter along our assigned portion of Chambers Hill Road, as part of the Adopt-a-Highway program.   Sturdy shoes, long pants and sleeves are recommended for this job.   You can also bring along your own work gloves.  Trash bags and safety vests will be provided.

Location:  Chambers Hill Road

Time Frame:  9:00 am – 11:00 am

Ages:  15 & Up

#5 Hospice House – up to 5 participants

Leader:  Vickie Gray

Description:  Meet at the church at 1:00 pm and carpool to the Hospice house.   Once there, you will do light yard work such as pulling weeds, trimming bushes, cleaning gutters, raking leaves, and power washing a small patio.

Location:  Carolyn Croxton Slane House, Linglewtown

Time Frame:  1:00 pm car pool to Hospice House

Ages:  Teenager and up

#6 Bethesda Mission Tea – 5-6 participants

Leader:  Mary Klaus

Description:  Meet at the church and to travel to the Bethesda Women’s Shelter in Harrisburg where Mary will host a tea for the residents.

NOTE:  This project will take place at a date and time to be determined later, as Mary will be participating in a medical mission during Church Has Left the Building.  We will announce a dates as soon as it has been finalized.

#7 Ronald McDonald House Dinner – 6 participants

Leader:  Danielle Klinger- Grumbine

Description:  This team will meet at the Church and travel to the Ronald McDonald House in Hershey to prepare a meal for the families currently residing there while their children are being treated at the hospital.

Location:  Ronald McDonald House Hershey

Time Frame:  2:00 am –5:00 pm

Ages:  18 and up

#8 Cookout – 8 participants

Leader:  Abbi Antolick

Description:  This team, will prepare the meal and hospitality for our evening gathering, including setting up the room for our evening worship.  You’ll feed all of our hungry volunteers after a good day of the Lord’s work.

Location:  Social Hall at Chambers Hill UMC

Time Frame:  2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Ages:  Adult only

 

Christian Churches United (CCU) Shoe Drive

CCU is collecting new or gently used shoes, boots, and sneakers (for both men and women) for distribution to those who benefit from their services.  Feel free to drop off your shoes at any time, a donation box will be placed in the Narthex and will remain there through the Church Has Left the Building project.
